Free energy creates… freedom

I think this video made me thinking, and I find more and more projects – that provides to us with robotics and automation such freedom that doesn’t exists yet…. But nobody thinks that Sahara, or any sand-world are our most richest resources…. Like the RepRap project, witch is amazing – but still uses plastic to form things, that based on oil -  but this is quite interesting.

Just think on build sewer pipes from sand…. or anything that is needed….

[Any similarity with reality is pure coincidence and the characters of this short story are just a product of the imagination.]

- Good morning! This is XYZ helpdesk, Gízá speaking. How may I help you?
- My ID is AQ9847DA and I need a new password. Hurry please!
- Good morning again. May I have your name as well?
- Sure, no problem. My name is Eva.
- Thank you very much, Eva. I`ll try to find you in the system.
- I need this password immediately.
- What kind of password would you like?
- MMPX and right now.
- Just spare me a second please and I will give you the new credential.
- Why is so difficult? I don`t have time!
- I`m doing my best, however I must access certain applications.
- What for?
- Just for security reasons.
- It is only a damn password!
- Yes it is. May I ask you the secret question?
- I don`t know what are you talking about, mister.
- You set a while ago a secret security question and the answer for it.
- And?
- And I will ask this question. If you know the answer, I am able to give you a new password.
- OK, let`s do it!
- So, please tell me, Eva: “What is my daughter`s name?”
- How should I know, what is your daughter`s name?!
- Well, this is your secret question in the system.
- I don`t know what`s  this bullshit.
- I am asking you a simple thing, Eva. Your secret question.
- OK and what is that?
- I already asked you: “What is my daughter`s name?”
- And I am wondering, again: how the hell should I know your daughter`s name?!
- Look, dear Eva! I do not have a daughter, I have a son.
- I do not get the point anyway! What kind of stupid game is this, mister?
- I can assure you: this is not a game, this is your secret question.
- I don`t understand a thing.
- Without this I cannot give you the new password.
- You must be kiddin` me…
- Eva, I am very serious. With this secret question and the proper answer you will confirm to me that you are not an intruder but the real user. I must know 100 percent sure that I will give the new password to the owner of the account.
- This is a stupid game.
- No, it is not. This is the procedure, and I didn`t make it. So, I will ask you again: “What is my daughter`s name?”
- I am sick and tired of this, mister!
- Please Eva, please try to help me! I`m trying to help you. I know your answer, but I cannot tell you. You must tell me. This is your secret question, you made this security setting. Without the answer you won`t get a new password. I am so sorry, but I cannot do it.
- I don`t need your sorry, I just need the damn password.
- Look, lady! Do you have a daughter or not?
- Yes, I do. I have.
- And what is her name, just tell me please.
- Anita.
- Bingo, this is the right answer.
- And why didn`t you start with this one, mister?!

Newsbreak: Fedora Cheatcubes has been arrived!

Here we go, the long time awaited, and wished cheatcubes has been arrived. :)

I have awaited an huge, really heavy package because estimatedly 15 kg was predicted to me. So when I received the phone, that they are coming with my delivery, I just hoped that I don’t need an trolley. I report that mailman was XXL guy, and strong like an elephant, so no trolley was needed :)

Let’s see: the package – (counted, just for sure) 500 pcs all together from each type – english and german. 4 x 250 pcs/packages, perfectly made, cutted to form. All you need to do is glue it together (sorry two-side envelope tape for this boxes can be expensive, so a little bit DIY is needed – also it’s easier to deliver bigger amount – perhaps at next incoming amount will be made so). Folding will be not a problem, because I have asked for eased folding possbility, so where it needs to be folded – it has a spline, and you could DIY without torn in/out the cube parts. I have to mention also that all the cubes has protective film on surface, that makes shiny on the boxes, and so scratch will not harm them. After long time, we have to do is share the basic commands, and gather more and more contributors…

I think we have to talk about sharing, so if anybody needs for the upcoming events, please drop me an mail. I have already spoken with Kital, and possibly he will help me to share both types.

I would like to thank you the support from Famsco, and everybody who has helped me to make it real this package of cheatcubes.

See you guys,

Zoltan

PS: I would like to make also some stickers, usually ones – and special ones too for the keyboard later on if my time allows. But, will see. ;)

After event: Fedora Lovelock Release Party BUD – 28th of May

Never was bigger hope before, that the small community can hold an release party for our newest proud release – Fedora 15 Lovelock. I have made to call together all the Fedora users, and gain more acquainted, and introduce our newest (under mentoring by Pierros) ambassador Gergely Rakosi. First we didn’t expected many people just around 10, but at the end we closed the event with success: almost 16 people has attended. We have also created new swags for our users, like a fedora mug, and micepad – and even given out few new and several old discs either. And no release party is fully complete without an huge Fedora cake ;) But here are the pictures.

And here is more:

It was fine event, and we meet again at July – to make an strong heartbeat.

Guys, girls we are here, and we are prepared!

After event: Linuxwochen Vienna May 5-7.

Filed Under (Uncategorized) by Zoltan on 05-06-2011

I know it’s an late remembering to what happened, but earlier I had no time to finish this report. Generally it was nice event, but the preparation wasn’t so smooth: in relation of the asked XO has been delayed, and the room was booked before few days of the event (thanks Cwickert your great help) – as usually – it took 3 days, but this time the venue gone to other place.

Now the Fachhochschule Technikum Vienna has given to us the place were the event was held, and took for me a bit time to get used to it that I have to make a little trip every day from Praterstern to reach it. Because the hotel room was booked at there, at Hotel Adlon. The hotel itself is wasn’t not too big, but a little bit hidden from the city, but perfect for small business travellers. However, mostly I could compare this hotel to an labyrinth, because of the tight maze-like corridors – and low number of rooms on one floor… But how was the event? Here we go…

I have arrived to Vienna one day earlier afternoon to my booked hotel to be get prepared before the event, a check the contacts – to make it sure nothing comes between. Gerold has left for me t-shirts (really thanks), and a bunch of F14 CD-DVD’s. I have tried to get my package from Daniel Jahre, but we couldn’t meet for some reason, so they took for me to the event place.

The first day was not really active, but Kevin Koffler has attended all (more or less in) three days and helped me a lot to spread the KDE version of Fedora, and made some CD’s for it. I think we have prepared an nice booth on upstairs. However, I have given a bit talk about possibilities within Fedora, and introduced Pulp, and few other projects – in hope that I could have few more attendant to my and Biertie’s talks. I have made pictures about the participants booths and tried to get acquainted with the place. Just a bit worried about the XO that arrives on time or not…

Our booth

Next day was much better, and twisted, and also interesting. Slowly the rush of the visitors/invited contacts also arrived, including with some problems. First we have noticed, that after Biertie hasn’t arrived to Vienna to give his talks in the morning, and there was no notice about it (not even an single email that sorry I couldn’t attend or such, but we had talked many times before the event) – and I wasn’t prepared to replace his talks, because I’m not an expert in SELinux…. I had to run few rounds to quickly find out what happened, and felt myself a little blamed about this. But as always there something good in bad things – I have received an phone call that XO is coming and my brother brings me, and my invited Nokia contacts also coming to make their talks, workshops. Furthermore – Laurin Novak (he is an new ambassador fom Baden, near  from Vienna – pictures next) has also arrived for short time, and Kevin too helped me a lot.

Surprise was that earlier I have talked earlier (before the event) with Jaroslav Řezník, and tried to invite him for possibly get binded with my Nokia contact, so maybe we could work/discuss on mobile community possibilities within Fedora, and maybe here at Hungary. Jaroslav hasn’t promised for surely that he will attend, but for my biggest surprise he has arrived with his friend Volker Fröhlich and we had talked much – and I have introduced to my nokia contact Tamas Dankovics. We have agreed in that would be nice to have an Mobile application / QT developer spin based on Fedora, but we need go deeply fight with the blockers – like mass packaging, and licences. He also introduced to the visitors the new KDE on his machine.

The Nokia team has given a few talks: Qt Quick / QML, the second one on Qt Mobility – witch was really success, because even the workshops were at least 15-20 people who attended on these great hacking sessions. Most of the people questioned a lot about the XO, and the circumstances, even we tried to produce an mesh network with Daniels XO – but somehow didn’t worked… I was really happy about the created flyers, because it was much easier to give out the information, along with the CD’s-DVD’s. I didn’t counted – but at least 1,5 box discs has been given out. What I have noticed that more and more people are looked for 64 bit version, and not too much for the 32 bit, but newbies still looking for just the live CD’s… That could be kind of important when we ordering for F15. Also I have sold few t-shirts, and this made me happy.

It was an long exhausting day, and I think very successful. I could tell that plenty of KDE discs and the old F14 discs were given out, and we all agreed that was an nice day, and Jaroslav has promised that we’ll keep contact. Oh, before I forgot, we have won an old/new ambassador to Fedora: Sirko Kempter has registered on my machine in FAS, asked for support and mentor :) Please approve and teach him Kital! :)

On late night when I arrived back to the hotel have prepared for my next day talk, added few improvements to my presentation and hoped everything will go better. I have went out little bit to the city, walked at night around Stephans Kirche, and enjoyed Vienna life for short, but I was really tired to participate Linuxwochen Party that they arranged.

On next day, when I have went back to my fedora desk, I wanted to finish my talk presentation – but after 9′o clock the people also begun to arrive and ask more about Fedora, and our community – so I had no really chance to finish it, until Kevin, and later Laurin has arrived. But once after an longer edit I wanted to save my work – something has went wrong and the presentation application has collapsed, and the created file was corrupted, it’s only opened for me an huge empty file, damn it…. :(   We have tried with Laurin to recreate what was lost, but it was an quite impossible mission, when you have only one hour left before the talk. So I had to do my best, and hold my talk basically with an short quick notes, but I think it was nice, and I tried to focus on the theme. It wasn’t so nice, and I had better talks before I’m sure, but I have received from the participants a lot of questions, and mainly it was alright. Rest of the day we got lot visitors, and promoted fedora till late afternoon, till the event has closed. To continue the good tradition – I have given out one t-shirt for the event game as prize (promotion is never worse), and the day has been closed with nice ending. Cleaned up the booth, I have gained an new contact from FSFE in person of David, and left the event place with big calm – again it was alltrough an nice event.
