Yes, it can substitute syslog-ng/rsyslog. But in its current form it can do it only on standalone workstations:
- Journal is local only (syslog-ng: client – server)
- Journal does not filter or process log messages, just blindly stores everything, while syslog-ng has many tools to sort, process, parse log messages.
- Journal is limited to Linux/systemd (syslog-ng: all Linux/BSD/UNIX), meaning that syslog-ng is a lot better suited into a heterogeneous environment.
For more details, you can read more about this and many other things in my slightly old blog at http://czanik.blogs.balabit.com/2012/03/state-of-the-art-logging-syslog-ng-journal-ceelumberjack-and-elsa/

What do you think about new systemd's feature called "journal"? People say that could substitute syslog-ng/rsyslog in future Fedora releases...

If I agree that password are very sensitive information. I do believe passphrases are stronger and easier to remember.

Couple of link:
The well-known xkcd comic on password:

A gpg-encrypted password database project:

Nice article, I just wanted to comment on the issue of passwords, I'm under impression that is novadays suggested using passphrases (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passphrase) instead of random string passwords as they more user friendly (meaning longer passphrases are easier to remember that long passwords).

I hope you'll make it this time. That'd be finally another FUDCon I'll be likely to attend (less than 3 hours by train from Vienna, nice), the last one was Brno in 2008. :-)
